MORE INFORMATION ON BLANCA
Blanca has sadly been overlooked at the San Anton Moron shelter for nearly 3 years, as we find is the case with lots of Podencos in Spanish shelters. Blanca came over to the UK for foster in March, and has been spending the last few weeks finding her feet in a home life.
Blanca is a shy girl because of her past, but she comes out of her shell more every day. She likes to pick a safe comfy spot (sofa or bed) and once she is there, she loves cuddles and will show you her tummy for tickles. She is very affectionate despite her shyness and will give you a lick on your face and hand from time to time. She likes to know what’s going on and although she’s may startle on being approached, she does like to follow her humans around the house to see what they’re doing and be near them. She’s doing great with her lead training and is enjoying daily walks with the other dogs. She loves a good sniff! She’s been gentle and curious with all other dogs we come across on walks.
Blanca hasn’t lived in a house before but she is very good with her toileting and will come down or to the door to ask to go out, or if she is too worried to ask, she may pant which is usually a sign she wants to go out. She is nervous with traffic and load noises and will shrink away from them but she is getting braver and will still walk on the pavement despite passing cars. She is a very good eater with her meals but can be fussy and suspicious with treats - pure fish or meat only!
Blanca will need another doggy playmate in the home to help her with her confidence, and she has been cat tested at the centre.
Blanca is neutered, vaccinated, and tested and clear for all Mediterranean diseases - excluding Ehrlichia and Anaplasma (tick borne diseases) which she is receiving the standard 1 month treatment for now and is expected to resolve. She is passported and available for adoption now.
